SCP-087, also known as the Endless Staircase, is an unlit platform staircase with a 38-degree angle that descends infinitely, causing visual and auditory distortions. The Foundation discovered it after a series of unexplained disappearances on a university campus. Three D-class personnel, D-8432, D-9035, and D-9884, were sent to explore the staircase.
Each subject experienced strange occurrences, including:
* Hearing a child's cry that seemed to come from far below, but didn't get closer as they descended.
* Encountering a grey, mouthless face (SCP-087-1) with dead, white eyes.
* Experiencing extreme anxiety and terror.
The subjects were equipped with lights, cameras, and other gear, but the staircase seemed to absorb or distort light, making it impossible to illuminate beyond a certain point. The face (SCP-087-1) appeared to be able to move towards the subjects, causing them to flee in terror.
The final subject, D-9884, descended the deepest, but her video feed cut out, and she was never seen again. The SCP was classified as Euclid, and the door to the staircase was sealed and disguised as a janitorial closet. The fate of those who entered the staircase remains unknown, but it is assumed to be unpleasant.

12. D-9035 encountered SCP-087-1 on the staircase, but was able to flee and return to hallway 3B.
13. D-9884 was a 23-year-old woman who was given a backpack containing supplies and was ordered to go deeper into the staircase.
14. D-9884's video feed cut out, and she was never seen again.
15. SCP-087 was classified as Euclid and contained with a reinforced steel door and electro-release lock mechanism.
16. The door was disguised as a janitorial closet, and the lock required a specific number of electrical volts to be applied while the key was turned counterclockwise.
17. Staff at the building never again reported hearing strange noises after the containment procedures were put in place.
