Senators convened a hearing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on March 6. The hearing was attended by over 60 senators and representatives of large tech companies. The attendees discussed the need for regulation and legislation on AI to minimize the negative impacts such as bias, loss of jobs and worker education etc. Though there were diverse opinions, there was a consensus to figure out a way to maximize the benefits and minimize the harms of AI. Additionally, attendees discussed the need to balance incentives to keep AI development in the US and the right amount of regulatory oversight for a fair playing field.
