Hellraiser (1987) KILL COUNT - Summary

Summary

"Welcome to the Kill Count, where we tally up the victims in all our favorite horror movies. I'm James A. Janisse, and today we're looking at Hellraiser, a British film by Clive Barker released in 1987. Hellraiser is a domestic drama filled with eroticism and torture, exploring how pain and pleasure can mix interchangeably. The Cenobites, the mutilated beings decked out in BDSM gear who hail from another dimension that's equivalent to hell, deliver these carnal experiences. The movie begins with a man buying a puzzle box and unleashing hell. The Cotton brothers, Larry and Frank, are the main characters. Frank's resurrection was originally a dusty skeleton coming out of a wall, owing to Hellraiser's modest budget of just under a million bucks. Julia, Frank's wife, agrees to be Frank's personal skin supplier. The movie ends with a vendor selling the puzzle box to a new puzzler. I counted 7 kills in Hellraiser, with Frank Cotton dying twice. The only female victim was Julia. The movie was released in 1987, and made such a splash New World Pictures immediately requested a sequel. It'd be released about 15 months later. This has been the Kill Count. Thanks a lot for watching this Kill Count! I wanna thank some Patrons like. Jamie Thompson, Tyquan Chew, Cody Lapati, Jojo Espana Jet Brockman, Noah Harris, and Brandi I'm so glad to finally be doing Hellraiser. You know, this first Hellraiser was the very first movie that Chelsea and I ever watched together as a couple. We got to tell Clive Barker that when we met him in 2018. Holds a special place in my heart."
