Saw V (2008) KILL COUNT - Summary

Summary

"Saw 5" is a horror film released in 2008 and is the directorial debut of David Hackl. The movie is about Detective Mark Hoffman, an undercover Jigsaw apprentice, who tries to clean up the loose ends from the previous Saw films. The movie starts on a dark and stormy night where a man named Seth Baxter wakes up chained to a workbench, with a pendulum blade about to cut into him. The movie then cuts to Hoffman, who finds himself locked inside a makeshift operating room. He escapes and steals Strahm’s cellphone. Hoffman then sets out to take revenge, going to the evidence room and stealing Strahm's cellphone.

The movie also features a trap plot where five people wake up to find their necks ensnared by a cable that runs back towards a very head-choppy-style blade. They have to free themselves with the keys across the room, which only has enough slack for one person to reach a key box at a time.

In the end, Hoffman is locked in a glass coffin and the walls close in on him, leaving him to die. The film concludes with the defeat of Special Agent Strahm. The movie was praised for its tension and the reveal that one key would have freed all the victims.
