Trick 'r Treat (2007) KILL COUNT - Summary

Summary

"Trick or Treat" is a 2007 horror film written and directed by Michael Dougherty. The movie consists of a series of intertwining vignettes that take place on Halloween night in the fictional town of Warren Valley, Ohio. The vignettes are loosely connected by the burlap sack kid-sized entity Sam, who steps in to personally intervene when he sees the spirit of Halloween being rejected. The film is a sincere exploration of various Halloween traditions and features a high kill count.

The film begins with a grumpy robot and a lady named Emma, who complains about Halloween. She blows out a jack-o'-lantern, and this action attracts the attention of someone with a glassy field of vision. This character runs across the street towards their house, and when Emma finishes, her man finds her body beneath the sheets, hung up and dismembered. This is the film's first kill.

As the night progresses, various characters meet their ends. For example, a trio of trick-or-treaters interrupt a party and a body starts screaming and moving around. Another character, who was mistaken for a vampire, is killed by a group of kids. A bus full of troubled kids is driven off a cliff by a man, and all the children are killed. The surviving driver is spared and never seen again.

The film concludes with a happy ending, where the spirit of Halloween is restored. The movie wraps up its storylines, showing an orphan but cheerful Billy Wilkins dressed up like his dad, handing out candy. The film ends with a count of 27 kills, with four females and 16 males, and seven unverified kids besides Dracula. The film's runtime is 82 minutes, resulting in a kill on average over every 3 minutes.
