Psychonauts - Story So Far - What You Need to Know! - Summary

Summary

"Psychonauts" is a game that revolves around the story of Raz, a young boy with psychic abilities who joins a secret agent training camp called the Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp. The game begins with Raz sneaking into the camp, where he meets other campers and learns about the world of psychic powers. He discovers a secret training system underneath the camp, which leads him to meet Agent Ford Cruller, one of the founders of the Psychonauts.

Raz is taught various psychic abilities by Sasha Nein, Milla Vodello, and other agents in the game. He learns about the Psitanium, a psychoactive mineral that was part of a meteorite that struck the area where the camp is located. The meteorite's influence drove the inhabitants mad, and the government flooded the crater left by the meteorite to create Lake Oblongata, near which the camp was founded.

Raz uncovers a plot by Coach Oleander, the camp's head, who plans to steal the children's brains to power a fleet of tanks with psychic abilities to take over the world. He uses his new knowledge to warn Lili, another camper, and together they work to stop Oleander in the absence of the adult Psychonauts.

Raz and Lili discover that more campers have had their brains stolen, and they find themselves in a battle with a giant, fish-like monster known as the Hideous Hulking Lungfish. After defeating the creature, Raz enters its mind to clear it of Oleander's influence.

Raz then learns about Dr. Loboto, a mad dentist who mutated the Lungfish and implanted a device in her brain to control her mind and force her to abduct the children from the camp. With the help of Linda, the Lungfish, Raz enters Dr. Loboto's secret lab and finds the Milkman, a former security guard who was hypnotized by Oleander to act as the guard of the Asylum.

Raz and the Milkman work together to defeat Dr. Loboto, who was planning to use the children's brains to power his psychic army. After defeating Dr. Loboto, Raz and Lili find the adult Psychonauts, who are still in their minds due to the Psilirium deposit in the facility. With the help of the other Psychonauts, they manage to re-brain Sasha and Milla, free Lili, and defeat Oleander.

After the tower explodes, the adult Psychonauts float safely to the ground to meet with Raz and Lili. Raz then destroys the prototype tank powered by Oleander's brain. He is able to move his brain into the tank, where it combines with Oleander's, throwing him into a mindscape of his own memories mixed with Oleander's.

In the end, Raz is allowed back into the Psychonauts after being cleared as sane. He prepares to say goodbye until the next summer. Sometime later, the Grand Head of the Psychonauts, Truman Zanotto, is kidnapped, and Raz is asked to join the team on the hunt to find him.
