Fairy tale Hansel and Gretel | A Bedtime Story for Grown Ups and Kids - Summary

Summary

In this story, Hansel and Gretel, two siblings, are abandoned by their parents in the forest because of a food shortage. To find their way back, Hansel cleverly leaves a trail of white pebbles. On a subsequent attempt, he uses breadcrumbs but they are eaten by birds. The children eventually stumble upon a witch's house made of sweets, but the witch intends to cook and eat them. She locks Hansel in a cage to fatten him up while making Gretel do chores. When the witch is ready to cook Hansel, Gretel tricks her into the oven and escapes with her brother.
