Summary

A poor fisherman was struggling to make a living by catching fish from the river. He had a rule to only cast his net 5 times a day and was satisfied with whatever he caught. One day, he caught a magical urn while fishing, which contained a powerful being who had been imprisoned by the gods for 1,000 years. The being had vowed to grant the person who freed him three wishes, but after 1,000 years, he had become angry and decided to kill whoever freed him instead. However, the fisherman was clever and tricked the being into returning to the urn.

As a reward, the fisherman was given a magical net that would always catch fish. He used this net to catch four colorful fish, which he sold to the king. However, when the king asked him to catch more fish, the fisherman was unable to do so due to his rule of only casting his net 5 times a day.

The story then takes a turn as the fisherman discovers that the king has been cursed by a witch, turning him and his subjects into fish. The fisherman helps the king to break the curse, and as a reward, he is given a lot of wealth and rewards.
